Electroluminescence was first discovered in1907 in the United Kingdom. However, this technology didn’t take off immediately. It’s until 1927 when the technology was successfully used to produce the first LED by Oleg Losev. Afterward, experts and scientists alike embarked on research to further develop this technology.

In 1961, 2 technologists (James R. Biard & Gary Pittman ) from Texas Instruments discovered infrared light emissions from tunnel diodes and immediately decided to patent this technology. They then established a project based in the company they were working in (i.e. Texas Instruments), where they were able to continue working and manufacturing infrared diodes.

LEDs & Heat

LED3LEDs come with heat sinks, which they use to absorb any heat produced & dissipate it to the environment. This helps keep them from overheating as well as burning out. With a powerful thermal management technology, LEDs are able to perform optimally. This also increases their lifespan.
